Ma. Valdez et J. Tejero, HYDRODYNAMIC INTERACTIONS OF DILUTE POLYM ER-SOLUTIONS UNDER SHEAR-FLOW IN A NARROW CHANNEL, Revista Mexicana de Fisica, 40(2), 1994, pp. 267-286
Hydrodynamic interactions on a dilute solution of spherical beads, inm
ersed in a Newtonian solvent in steady shear flow, are calculated with
the method of induced forces. These interactions cause the drag to be
anisotropic in space. Numerical solutions are obtained for the added
stress, caused by the polymer molecules, where hydrodynamic interactio
ns in a narrow channel are included. The polymer molecules are conside
red as Hookean spring-dumbells. The added stresses are used to calcula
te the slip velocity and the effective viscosity. Transversal migratio
n in the channel for different beadf radius is found.
