Abstract
A type of magnetometer capable of measuring in the nanoteslas range is described. The sensing unit consists of a cylindrical ceramic superco nductor a few milimeters in diameter and height. Its operation is base d on the nonlinear strong magnetic response to ac magnetic fields and the linear response to dc fields superimposed on the ac. An important volume reduction in the order of 50 was accomplished while keeping the sensitivity better than 3 nanoteslas.
