Abstract
The reduction of inorganic cations has been studied in liquid N-ethyla mmonium nitrate using polarography and cyclic voltammetry. Half-wave a nd formal potentials as well as diffusion coefficients are reported. S tudies of the electrochemical reduction mechanism on the mercury elect rode showed that Cd2+, Zn2+, Cu2+, Pb2+ and Tl+ ions are reversibly re duced to metal-amalgam. The electrode process of Ni2+/Ni(Hg) was found to be irreversible and its kinetic parameters have been calculated.
