A. Dubois et al., COMPARISON OF THE EMETOGENIC POTENTIAL BETWEEN CISPLATIN AND CARBOPLATIN IN COMBINATION WITH ALKYLATING-AGENTS, Acta oncologica, 33(5), 1994, pp. 531-535
Platinum-based polychemotherapy is widely used in the treatment of gyn
ecological cancer. Emesis is one of the most disturbing side-effects o
f platinum therapy. We performed a study to evaluate and compare the e
metogenic potential and the different emesis pattern after cisplatin a
nd carboplatin under antiemetic treatment with ondansetron. One hundre
d and twenty-two patients with either cisplatin-containing (n = 70) or
carboplatin-containing (n = 52) first-line chemotherapy were included
. Treatment with cisplatin led more frequently to emesis and patients
suffered from more severe emesis than carboplatin treated patients. De
layed emesis was observed after both platinum analogues but occurred m
ore frequently and lasted longer after cisplatin.
