Abstract
The catalytic mechanism of the superoxide dismutase-like activity cata lyzed by Fe(II)-N, N, N' akis(2-pyridylmethyl)-trans-1,2-cyclohexanedi amine ([Fe(II)(TPCN)]) was studied in aqueous solution. Addition of KO 2 solution was employed as superoxide (O-2(-)) generation systems to d ecipher the changes in UV-Visible spectra of [Fe(TPCN)] upon the react ion with O-2(-). It was indicated that [Fe(TPCN)] catalyzed the dispro portionation of O-2(-) through the redox cycle of [Fe(II)/(III)(TPCN)] .
