Abstract
In this note monopsony effects in major league baseball are analyzed u sing the highly competitive secondary market for players' baseball car ds. By comparing the relationship between card prices and salaries for free agents and non-free agents, a simple test of the monopsony hypot hesis is obtained. Results are consistent with past studies showing mo nopsony exploitation of non-free-agent players.
