Ws. Shin et al., RELIABILITY AND FACTOR STRUCTURE OF A KOREAN VERSION OF THE SHORT INDEX OF SELF-ACTUALIZATION, Journal of social behavior and personality, 9(3), 1994, pp. 581-588
The Korean version of the Short Index of Self-Actualization was admini
stered to 587 Korean university students. Factor analysis revealed tha
t the scale consists primarily of five factors that characterize self-
actualization items related to (a) autonomy/self-direction, (b) sense
of purpose, (c) tolerance of failure and weaknesses, (d) emotional exp
ression, and (e) interpersonal relations. The internal consistency of
the Short Index was tested using three split-half techniques. Based on
these tests, it appears that the scale is a sound measure of self-act
ualization for Koreans.
