Abstract
We obtain non-existence results and L(infinity) estimates for solution s of boundary value problems for a class of nonlinear systems related to the minimal surface operator. Our estimates, together with the resu lts obtained by Serrin, yield new existence results for Dirichlet prob lems for the prescribed mean curvature equation.
