Abstract
Triphenyltin 3-(1,3-benzodioxol-5-yl)-propenoate (triphenyltin beta-pi peronylacrylate) adopts a carboxylate-bridged helical chain structure with the tin atom in a trans-trigonal bipyramidal geometrical environm ent. The two tin-oxygen bond distances (Sn - O = 2.234(2) angstrom, Sn < -O = 2.246(2) angstrom) are not significantly different, implying s ignificant covalent character in the bridge.
