[{Cp(CO)(2)Fe}GaCl2] reacts with silylated chalcogens E(SiMe(3))(2) (E
=S, Se, Te) to form the compounds [{Cp(CO)(2)Fe}(4)Ga(4)E(4)] (E=S (1)
, Se (2), Te (3). According to crystal structure determinations 1-3 co
ntain a Ga(4)E(4) heterocubane core with an alternating arrangement of
gallium and chalcogen atoms. The gallium atoms are coordinated nearly
tetrahedrally by three chalcogen atoms and a {Cp(CO)(2)Fe} group.
