Abstract
Seasonal variation in the surface circulation of the East China Sea an d the Yellow Sea is investigated using altimetric data of TOPEX/POSEID ON and numerical model output. In the Yellow Sea an anticlockwise circ ulation develops during summer and a clockwise one during winter. In t he East China Sea an anticlockwise circulation occurs during winter. S uch results coincide well with those obtained by the numerical experim ent and drifter buoys experiment. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
