S. Nuske et F. Graf, RELATIONS BETWEEN FEEDING, DAIRY PERFORMANCE, FERTILITY AND SOME BLOOD PARAMETERS IN GERMAN FRIESIAN COWS, Revue de Medecine Veterinaire, 145(3), 1994, pp. 185-189
The relations between feed intake, dairy performance, some metabolic p
arameters and fertility have been studied in 40 German Friesian Cows o
n the university farm in Oberschleissheim. A view in regard of the dif
ferent rates of feed intake and metabolic parameters is given. The rel
ationships between feed intake, energy-balance, metabolic parameters,
liver-metabolism and fertility are discussed. A positive correlation w
as found between feed intake ante partum and the service period. This
can be explained as follows : high-energy basic feed causing high ener
gy-intake ante partum leads to the storage of body-fat. As a consequen
ce, increasing fat-mobilisation post partum overloads on the liver-met
abolism, thus causing a decline in fertility.
