Abstract
Regional models describe the spatial and temporal dynamics of coupled subsystems. They are based on a subregion classification and can be sp lit up into a static and a dynamic part. Methods are outlined to map r egional models by coupling geographic information systems and modellin g and simulation systems. A database management system forms the inter face between the two parts. The interface is supported by the model ca libration and data import management of the simulation system in a fle xible form. An application is devoted to the development of a one-sect oral forest regional model.
