Mp. Dasilva et al., ELECTROCHEMICAL OXIDATIVE DETERMINATION OF THIMEROSAL IN SOFT CONTACT-LENS CARE SOLUTIONS BY CYCLIC VOLTAMMETRY, Analyst, 119(9), 1994, pp. 1971-1974
The electrochemical oxidation of thimerosal (TMS) was studied by cycli
c voltammetry on a rotating glassy carbon disc electrode. The best res
ults were obtained for TMS solutions adjusted to pH 4.0 with acetate b
uffer solutions and a scan rate of 40 mV s(-1). The limit of detection
obtained ranged from 0.1 to 0.09 mu g ml(-1) and the method was appli
ed to the determination of TMS in soft contact lens care solutions wit
h good results, the accuracy required being about 5-10%.
