Abstract
Beta correction absorbance can eliminate completely the interference f rom the excess of chromogenic reagent to give the real absorbance of t he complex produced. The reaction of antimony and Chromazurol S was de veloped in pH 5-6 buffer solution. The determination of trace amounts of antimony in waste water was studied by beta correction spectrophoto metry using this reaction. The results showed that Beer's law was obey ed over the concentration range O-1.0 mg l(-1) of antimony. The detect ion limit is 0.009 mg l(-1), which is low enough to determine antimony in environmental waters.
