Fine-grained alumina prepared by usual cold isostatic pressing sinteri
ng process was investigated for fatique behaviour under repeated impac
t loading. The fatigue resistance parameter ws found to be 17.12 while
the endurance limit was around 270 MPa which was about 38% of the sin
gle impact strength of the material. Fatigue cracks were found to be t
ransgranular near the crack initiation region, the rest being integran
ular.
