We have investigated specific absorption rates and heating in eyes and
heads of users of mobile telephone handies. The judgement upon the ex
posure is based on the results of our field-strength measurements with
real telephones and on both theoretically calculated and experimental
ly measured data in the literature. Following this no overexposure can
occur with intentional, professional use of class 4 - handies of anal
ogue TACS nets (e.g. Austrian D-net) or class 3 - handies of digital G
SM nets (e.g. German D1-, D2-nets). The current, recommended limits of
local specific absorption rates of 4 W/kg (Austria) and 10 W/kg (Germ
any) are not exceeded. Temperature rise in the tissue is less than 1-d
egree.
