2ND-HARMONIC GENERATION IN NONLINEAR-OPTICAL FILMS

Second harmonic generation, an important phenomenon in nonlinear optic s, is modeled in this work. The model is derived from a nonlinear syst em of Maxwell's equations, which overcomes the known shortcomings of s ome commonly used models in the literature. Existence and uniqueness o f solutions are established by a combination of a variational approach and the contraction mapping principle. Some numerical results are als o presented.
