Abstract
Using the 1987 NORC General Social Survey, this analysis considers the claim that having a financial stake in the system-owning a business o r a home-inclines people to be socially active conservatives. Net of a standard set of sociodemographic variables, ownership is weakly or un related to a wide range of indicators of sociopolitical attitudes and behaviors.
