Abstract
Using data from the 1990 General Social Survey this study examines the role of gender in determining abortion attitudes in the general publi c. While the findings underscore the importance of religious affiliati ons and practices in determining the abortion attitudes of both men an d women, they also suggest that practical implications of religious id eology and childbearing may differentially affect abortion attitudes b y gender.
