dies shows a likelihood to discriminate against the interests of lesbi
ans and certainly against lesbian feminist theory through the incorpor
ation of a 'queer' perspective. Recent writings in the field suggest t
hat 'queer' theory and politics are and should be based on the celebra
tion of certain specifically male gay cultural forms, particularly tho
se of camp and drag. The importance of camp as well as a worrying tend
ency to want to protect the study of sexuality from the intrusion of f
eminist insights promises to create lesbian and gay studies which will
disappear lesbians.
