Conservationists and agriculturists must work together toward the comm
on goal of satisfying growing human population needs while maintaining
natural resources and ecological processes critical to long-term huma
n survival. The study of invertebrates has perhaps the greatest potent
ial for contributing to this goal through theoretical, practical, and
educational advancements. I discuss my view of the resulting challenge
to entomologists with emphasis on insect conservation, sustainable ag
riculture, and environmental education.
