Records of Caribbean fruit flies, Anastrepha suspensa (Loew), captured
in McPhail traps were analyzed from 48 trapping locations in Dade Cou
nty (Port of Miami and Homestead) from 1987-1991. Greatest numbers wer
e trapped over all locations in May, June, and July 1987 and 1989-1991
, and in November 1988. Thirteen species of Caribbean fruit fly host t
rees were represented among the 48 trap locations. Numbers of flies tr
apped weekly in all traps or just those in conspecific host trees were
not linearly correlated with weekly mean temperatures or weekly preci
pitation. Weekly trap catches were not correlated among conspecific ho
st tree sites or between the Port of Miami and Homestead areas.
