COMPARATIVE-STUDIES ON NOVEL PROTEIN ANTIGENS OF STREPTOCOCCI OF THE SEROLOGICAL GROUP-B

The present study was designed to further characterize the relation of the previously described protein antigens Rib and R-associated antige n (Ra) of streptococci of the serological group B to already known pro tein antigens of this species. Immunodiffusion reactions as well as We stern blot analysis revealed a close relation of protein Rib and Ra an d a partial relation to protein R. Protein Rib or Ra, as members of th e R protein family, should be included in group B streptococcal typing schemes and may contribute to the development of future group B strep tococcal vaccines.
