Abstract
Interest in near-threshold ionization is discussed and an experiment i s described aimed at its measurement by positron impact. The method in volves an ion time-of-flight system triggered by the detection of the scattered projectiles. This latter task will be assisted by a weak ele ctric field penetrating the interaction region.
