Ks. Sidhu et al., IONIC ELECTRONIC CHARGE-TRANSPORT IN COPPER MOLYBDATE GLASSES PREPARED UNDER DIFFERENT CONDITIONS/, Journal of the Physical Society of Japan, 63(9), 1994, pp. 3344-3348
Copper glasses (CuI + Cu2O + MoO3) have been prepared by in-situ quenc
hing of mixtures molten (i) in air (ii) under N-2 being continuously f
lushed, (iii) in static vacuum with initial pressure of 10(-6) Torr an
d (iv) in vacuum being continuously pumped. The samples prepared under
different conditions had different ionic/electronic transference numb
er. The electronic part of conductivity has been explained in terms of
Mo6+-->Mo5+ and Cu(+)reversible arrow Cu++ conversion. The presence o
f Cu++ and Mo5+ has been established by ESR studies.
