Abstract
This paper examines the current fertility of men and women in the West ern area of Sierra Leone and the prospects for future fertility behavi our. Probably due to the effect of rapid economic decline in Sierra Le one since 1980, the desired family size has fallen. But indications ar e that the preferred completed family size is lower than the desired f amily size.
