Abstract
This study was undertaken to determine the levels of endotoxin in a gr oup of adult donors whose livers were procured for transplantation. In the group of 25 adults, endotoxin levels were found to be significant ly elevated in the systemic venous blood when compared to control leve ls. Portal venous endotoxin levels were also elevated following hepati c hilar dissection and after cannulation of the portal vein prior to r emoving the donor liver.
