The purpose of this article is to examine the international factors th
at influence electricity supply in Zimbabwe. In particular, the import
ance of regional actors, donors and systemic considerations is analyse
d. The possible future of Zimbabwean electricity supply is also explor
ed by examining the potential impact of different international politi
cal, economic and environmental developments. Although international f
actors have not been all determining in the Zimbabwean case, the artic
le concludes that they have exercised considerable influence.
