A. Calusaru et al., CONSTITUTION AND POLAROGRAPHIC-BEHAVIOR OF THE COBALT COMPLEX WITH 2,5-DIMERCAPTO-1,3,4-THIADIAZOLE, Revue Roumaine de Chimie, 38(12), 1993, pp. 1405-1413
It has been found that in ammonia buffer and in the presence of 2,5-di
mercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole the polarographic wave of cobalt splits int
o two due to the formation of a complex with the mercaptocompound The
reason of the separation between the two waves is kinetically in natur
e due to the super-imposition of chemical reaction of complex formatio
n on the electrochemical process of cobalt ion discharge. The polarogr
aphic data indicated that the complex contains two ligand molecules of
2,5-dimercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole one molecule of NH3 and one of H2O:
[Co(C2H2N2S3)2(NH3)(H2O)]2+. A process of catalytic hydrogen discarge
is superimposed ou the complex wave.
