Abstract
Explicit solutions for the cross-spectral density, the spectrum and th e flux emitted by a partially coherent isotropically distributed prima ry source are derived. It is shown that the modification of the spectr um (the Wolf effect) in the isotropic case is not due to radiation pro pagation, but rather to the emission mechanism itself. Consequently, t he radiated spectrum everywhere is different from the spectrum of the source.
