Abstract
Some properties of the Schultz molecular topological index (MTI) are e stablished which show why, in certain series of isomers, MTIs decrease s with the increasing extent of branching of the molecular carbon-atom skeleton. The relation between MTI and the Wiener index is examined, and some of its hitherto unnoticed aspects are pointed out.
