Abstract
Synthesis of 7a-keto-B-bromotestosterone (IX) and its 17alpha-isomer X IV from 3beta-acetoxy-17beta(or alpha)-benzoyloxyandrost-5-en-7-one (I or X) is described. The key reaction is the enlargement of the ring B in reaction with diazomethane in the presence of aluminium chloride.
