Cerebellar theory has been unable to converge on a single concept of c
erebellar function. Problems arise because we have little knowledge ab
out how motor control works in the structures with which cerebellum in
teracts and because our knowledge of cerebellar activity patterns is v
ery rudimentary. Rather than putting forth more under-constrained high
-level theories, it may be time to start an interactive process betwee
n modern physiological experimentation on multiple levels and realisti
c computer modeling of physiological variables to reproduce the actual
system.
