Abstract
The solid complexes of lanthanide metal ions with a few derivatives of thioschiff bases have been isolated and characterized by elemental an alysis, IR, (1)NMR and thermal analysis. The results indicate the form ation of 1:2 (M: L) complexes with the general formula (ML(2).H2O.X) 2 H(2)O where M = trivalent Y, La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Gd, Dy, Ho, Er and Yb ; HL (or H(2)L) = thioschiff base and X = ClO4- or Cl- ion. Coordinati on numbers 6 and 8 are propose for the lanthanides in these complexes.
