Gn. Petrukhina et al., CHANGES IN ACUTE RELEASE OF T-PA AFTER CHRONIC ADMINISTRATION OF N-3 POLYUNSATURATED FATTY-ACIDS INTO RABBITS, Fibrinolysis, 8, 1994, pp. 53-54
The oral administration of a fish oil to rabbits leads to a decrease o
f the tissue-type plasminogen activator (t-PA) activity in plasma. Tn
order to investigate the possible causes of this effect a fish oil was
fed during 4 weeks to rabbits and after that t-PA release was provoke
d by the intravenous injection of epinephrine. Control animals were in
jected by epinephrine without a pretreatment by a fish oil. The t-PA l
iberator injection caused a significant, but a transient, increase in
t-PA activity both in the fish oil-treated and untreated animals. Alth
ough the basal activity of t-PA in the fish oil-treated animals was sm
aller than in control rabbits, the release of this enzyme after drug s
timulation was higher in this group as compared to the untreated anima
ls. At 30 min after injection of epinephrine t-PA activity in the expe
rimental animals was less than in control rabbits.
