INTELLIGENT NETWORK ARCHITECTURE FOR MOBILE MULTIMEDIA COMMUNICATION

Development of a large-scale mobile communications network (IMN: Intel ligent Mobile communications Network), as an infrastructure integratin g multimedia functions, is indispensable for the support of future mob ile communication services aiming toward ''personalization,'' ''intell igence,'' and ''multimedia services.'' This paper discusses the aims o f mobile communications and the outline of network technology aspects of PDC (Personal Digital Cellular) network which is currently in servi ce. In addition, the future prospect of mobile communication technolog ies is discussed with special focuses on the support of universal mobi lity, network architecture including mobile communications platform, a nd multimedia technologies in the transport and access systems.
