The thermally stimulated current (TSC) technique has been used to stud
y the dielectric retardation modes observed in monochlorodurene betwee
n liquid-nitrogen temperature and the melting temperature. Two TSC pea
ks were observed at low and room temperatures corresponding to relaxat
ion processes. Each relaxation process was analysed by the fractional
polarization technique, giving the elementary TSC spectra. The tempera
ture variation of the relaxation time tau associated with these elemen
tary processes is described by an Arrhenius equation. Moreover, all th
e relaxation times tau isolated in monochlorodurene are found to obey
a compensation law.
