Sm. Elborollosy et al., EFFECT OF GAMMA-IRRADIATION ON THE PROPERTIES OF COLORED VINYL-CHLORIDE METHYLMETHACRYLATE COPOLYMER, Journal of elastomers and plastics, 26(4), 1994, pp. 347-354
The effect of different doses of gamma irradiation (3-18 Mrad) on the
infrared spectra, spectral absorption in the visible region and viscos
ity of the known coloured sample of vinyl chloride-methylmethacrylate
copolymer were studied. The atomic absorption measurements for element
al analysis revealed that the sample contains Ni, Co and Cr. The irrad
iation of the sample with gamma ray doses produced various changes in
the IR spectra. The effect of irradiation was monitored by measuring t
he spectral absorption in the range 300-700 nm. Three bands appeared s
howing variation in intensity and wavelength with increasing irradiati
on doses. The intrinsic viscosity of the initial and irradiated sample
s was also measured.
