Abstract
The iodine-azide reaction induced by sulphur(II) compounds is applied for the determination of sulphite ions in aqueous solutions. The metho d is based on the conversion of sulphite into thiosulphate and trithio nate by tetrathionate followed by the determination of the compounds f ormed. The iodine-azide reaction is used in the determination. The met hod allows the determination of 20 mug of sulphite in a 25 ml sample.
