4-tert-Butylphthalodinitrile (1) reacts with ammonium per-rhenate, NH4
ReO4, to yield trido(tetra-tert-butylphthalocyaninato)rhenium(V), (tBu
)(4)PcReN (2), which is characterized by IR, UV/Vis, CV, MS, H-1 and C
-13 NMR, and elemental analysis. It shows good solubility in common or
ganic solvents. In solution 2 is assumed to be monomeric whereas in th
e solid state also dimers or higher aggregates are present. From the N
MR spectra it is concluded that different constitutional isomers of 2
are farmed but not in the expected ratio of a statistical distribution
. By analogy with 2, the already known nitrido(phthalocyaninato)rheniu
m(V), PcReN (3), is prepared for comparison.
