The product of the K-capture probability, P-K, and the K-shell fluores
cence yield, omega(K) of copper, P-K omega(K), in the decay of Zn-65 w
as measured to be 0.398 +/- 0.002. A gas-flow proportional counter was
used to measure the x-rays and a NaI(Tl) detector to measure the gamm
a-rays. P-K omega(K) was derived from the coincidences between x- and
gamma-rays. From the measured value of P-K omega(K) and the theoretica
l K-capture probability P-K = 0.880 +/- 0.002, the K-shell fluorescenc
e yield omega(K) = 0.452 +/- 0.003 for copper is deduced.
