The pharmacokinetics and elimination of EDTMP chelates with different
radionuclides (Tc-99m, In-111 and Sm-153) has been investigated in rat
s. The biodistribution of the complexes under study was similar and tw
o main processes, namely bone uptake and the elimination of glomerular
filtration, take part in their rapid blood clearance. A substantially
slower blood clearance of In-111-EDTMP in comparison with the other c
omplexes suggests partial indium exchange between the chelate and tran
sferrin. All the complexes exhibited high affinity for bent: and the r
adionuclide uptake into the skeleton was in the order Sm-153 > In-111
> Tc-99m. No specific extra-skeletal uptake was found.
