A new method of synchronization of estrus and ovulation in gilts using
the prostaglandin F2alpha-analogue Tiaprost (Iliren(R) C Hoechst) was
examined under experimental conditions. The scheme of treatment consi
sted of following elements: induction of puberty in prepuberal gilts b
y simultaneous injection of PMSG and hCG at the age of 180-200 days, a
cceleration of the regression of corpora lutea in the late luteal stag
e by Tiaprost, stimulation of follicular growth in the second cycle by
PMSG and induction of ovulation in the second estrus by hCG. Two diff
erent dosages of PMSG and hCG for induction of puberty were compared (
group 1:500 I.U. PMSG and 250 I.U. hCG; group 2: 400 I.U. PMSG and 200
I.U. hCG). All gilts of both groups showed a synchronous estrus in th
e second cycle.
