This article describes a pilot study of financial dealers working on W
all Street, New York which would allow a comparison to be made between
them and dealers working in the City of London on the sources of stre
ss, personalities, type A behaviour, coping techniques and alcohol con
sumption. Other than for demographic data, few differences were found
between dealers on Wall Street and either dealers in the City of Londo
n in general or dealers working for US-owned financial institutions in
the City of London.
