The vortex street wake of a large-aspect-ratio torus is characterised
by measurements of amplitude and frequency of the velocity fluctuation
s for different oblique shedding modes resulting from the periodic spa
nwise boundary conditions in this geometry. The experimental data conf
irm the validity of the phenomenological Ginzburg-Landau model in the
entire laminar regime (Reynolds numbers between 50 and 180). The depen
dence on Reynolds numbers of certain model parameters is deduced from
these results.
