Abstract
As a result of 1277 laparoscopic cholecystectomies, which were perform ed as a standard procedure in uncomplicated and complicated symptomati c cholecystolithiasis, the complication-rates of conventional cholecys tectomy and laparoscopic cholecystectomy are compared. It can be demon strated, that the adoption of the principles of conventional cholecyst ectomy into laparoscopic technique and a careful preparation can reach the same high level of savety as the so called ''gold-standard''.
