A single crystal of feldspar was deformed in a uniaxial rig at 1323-15
53 K under constant stresses of 15-80 MPa. Creep data were fitted to t
he conventional power law equation, giving a stress exponent equal to
unity and an activation energy of 164 kJ mol-1. The Newtonian creep be
havior is attributed to the operation of Harper-Dorn creep. Evidence f
or Harper-Dorn creep in a polycrystal of feldspar is also found from a
previous study.
