Abstract
The adiabatic ionization energy (IE) of 2,8-dichlorodibenzo-p-dioxin i s measured using the method of resonance-enhanced multiphoton ionizati on (REMPI) combined with time-of-flight mass spectrometry (TOFMS), yie lding a value of 7.802(4) eV. This value is compared with previous the oretical results from the literature. Possible consequences for the de tection of higher chlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins with the method of one -color two-photon ionization are discussed.
