Abstract
The sigma-participation of the C-2-C-3 and C-4-C-7 bonds in the solvol ysis of methyl substituted 1-norbornyl triflates is evaluated by appli cation of the additivity principle. It is concluded that the sigma-par ticipation of the C-2-C-3 bond is dependent on the spatial orientation of methyl substituents.
